TCH-technology – Cavitation treatment of hydrocarbons

Sep 19, 2023 | Portfolio

Project: Tecnologfa paratratamiento Cavitacional de Hidrocarburos (Treatment Cavitation Hydrocarbons (TCH-technology) is a technology that allows significant changes in the characteristics of crude oil (density, viscosity, and content of light fractions) based on the use of modifiers, which leads to high economic efficiency in the transportation of crude oil and its subsequent processing.
Client: TCН HOS, Colombia
Date: 2015 – Ongoing
Project details:

ASA has been involved in this project not only as the APCS developer but also as the creator of the technology as a whole system. Since 2015, we, together with TCH HOS, have gone from laboratory tests, a pilot project to a prototype.

For each type of unit (laboratory, pilot, prototype) a process design was developed, equipment and materials were purchased, assembled, and tested. The control system based on Siemens S7-1200 and S7-1500 PLCs controls each of the created units. All equipment is explosion-proof.

Executed work and achieved results:
  • Creation of laboratory setup.
  • Laboratory tests in TCH-Verifylab, Bogota.
  • Laboratory tests in the Colombian Institute of Petroleum (ICP), Pediquesta.
  • Pilot plant with a capacity of 1000 barrels per day.
  • Pilot testing in Holsan Oil Yard, Tocancipa.
  • Development of a pilot plant with a capacity of 4,000 barrels per day.
  • Pilot start-up at Biomax Planta Llanos tank farm, Villavicencio.
